Montrose, CO- On July 22, 2021, Colorado Yurt Company celebrated the official groundbreaking at their new company headquarters in Colorado Outdoors. The event drew over 200 people; including Colorado Yurt Company employees and their families, local and state officials and dignitaries, Colorado Outdoors neighbors, and company founders Dan & Emma Kigar. It was a “BYOS” (Bring Your Own Shovel) event, with an interesting and entertaining variety of shovels, picks, and scoops.

The groundbreaking was followed by a private party outside of Mayfly Outdoors headquarters.

The future home of Colorado Yurt Company will include 30,000 square feet of space; including a state-of-the-art manufacturing floor, offices, and visitor welcome center. Outside, there will be display model yurts, tipis, and tents available to tour and rent by the night in a “try before you buy” experience.

The project is in partnership with Timberline Bank, Alcorn Construction, Colorado Outdoors, City of Montrose, and Montrose Urban Renewal Authority.

John and Kelly Gibson, owners of Colorado Yurt Company were thrilled with the turnout. John said, “This event was an opportunity to celebrate our employees and their continued success in building Colorado Yurt Company.  I was excited to see the great response and attendance from the community.  For those who attended, we were able to showcase a bit of who we are. We are looking forward to our Grand Opening in May of 2022!”

Colorado Yurt Company manufactures yurts, tipis and tents for customers across the US and internationally. Markets served include: resorts, campgrounds, ski areas, glamping, summer camps, short term rentals, and families.
