Pitching a Cimarron Platform Tent

  • You will need two people, four makes it easier
  • Lay the canvas tent on its side on top of your platform
  • After attaching the ridge pole to the upright poles, slide this assembly into the inside of the tent
  • Slide the metal pins on the ridgepole/upright pole assembly through the grommets on the ridge of the tent
  • Keep the base of the two upright poles in place as the ridge is raised off of the platform, lifting the tent with it
  • When the tent is upright, tie the sides of the tent to the lower side rails on the platform
  • If you have a fly, it will have grommets that slide over the metal pins on the ridgepole/upright pole assembly
  • Then tie the fly to the upper side rails
  • Attach the tent (and mosquito netting if you added this feature) to the side of the platform with screws through the grommets at the bottom of the tent walls
  • You will periodically need to retie your tent to the side rails to adjust for shifting and settling
